Leila Schaumkel is a 7th grade student at Abbott Middle School. She received $35.00 for 5-A's and 2-B's. She also received $20.00 for 2 awards. (Next to Leila is Dozier Jones - INCH Board Member) Kilisitina Petelo is a 7th grade student at Borel Middle School. She received $35.00 for 7-A's and $50.00 for 5 awards. Kilisitina was our receiver for our Highest Academic Achievement Award for the 2010-2011 school year. That was a $50.00 award. (Group picture, INCH Board Members: Stewart Wobber, Dozier Jones, Kilistina Petelo, Spencer Tyrus and Gus Naufahu) Tongan/Pacific Islander Students’ After School Tutorial Program The Tongan/Pacific Islander Students’ After School Tutorial Program was founded by Gus Naufahu, with specific focus on providing exemplary assistance and support for the students in mobilizing them to achieve, and accomplish goals and objectives of success. The program which is held at the King Center in San Mateo, provides concentrated help geared to generate home-work assistance and individualized tutorials to group tutorials to students from Middle School to High School. Mini-scholarships and gifts prizes are provided, these are given to those that have A’s and B’s on their report cards. Each year there has been a remarkable increase in the number of A’s and B’s. on the students report cards. The after school program hours are the time when juvenile crime hits its peak, but through attentive adult supervision the students are safe and out of trouble. Through this comprehensive program, the students are less likely to commit crimes or to be victimized. INCH received a grant from the San Francisco Foundation for the amount of $3,500.00 for 12 months to support the Tongan/Pacific Islander Students’ After School Tutorial Program.
