(This will be revised during a meeting on October 19 during a meeting at the Computers for Everyone location, 3723 Haven Ave, Menlo Park CA.  Steve Russell and Court Skinner will lead.)

Some years ago Google, HP, and others built a program 'Computers for Everyone' to provide training in computer literacy and to provide internet access using a public wifi system in East Palo Alto and east Menlo Park.  A network was constructed, computers and and rooms donated, and money made available for interns and for maintenance.

This program still exists, and is maintained by a group of volunteers.  The network operates. 

The program is in trouble because funds are short.  In the past, funds were used to hire outside people to maintain the network, hire bucket trucks, clean the antennas, etc etc.  If some way is not found to continue funding, or to maintain the network with community resources, the network will die.

INCH sees this as an opportunity, not a problem.   We need to work together to make this a community network, to provide help within our  inter-faith community, to train, and to lift up. 

We are gathering a group of people to join with current residents already working on the program so that this network and this opportunity will stay, and so that the knowledge and confidence in how to operate it will be a community resource, not a work of charity.
